I haven't written in a few days, basically because they have been crazy and stressful and everything that summer is NOT supposed to be. Friday I was off right? Well, Keith and I went put-putting, which was so fun! There were all these slow people in front of us, and then by like the 12th hole, they were all gone?!? And, yes Keith, there are mulligans in minigolf! So, I didn't want to carry my purse while playing minigolf, so I left the stuff in my car. Well, apparently I forgot to lock the door, because when we got back from DQ, my purse (wallet and cell) had been stolen. So for a week or 2, I have no credit cards, no nothing and I can't get a new drivers license until Tuesday because of Memorial Day Weekend. My mom was excited to get a new cell phone though. We went to Verizon and were all eligible for new phones at the sale price, so mom picked out a "cute flip phone" and so we got "buy 1 get 1 free" and therefore I have now joined the throngs and have a flip phone.
Saturday was spent trying to get the phones and everything else cancelled and such, then working. Today was better though. Church, nice long nap (OH IT WAS SO SWEET), then went over to Jen's to watch Mona Lisa Smile. It was so funny because Lauren and Kate decided on the way home to stop at the liquor store and get something but the first place was closed so we had to drive to another store. I guess what makes it funny is that here I am, sitting w/my pastors daughter, and Jen's older sister and we're watching a chick flick and they are drinking (nothing out of control) but it's like, whoa we are getting older. I can do that in 6 months... Legally. It was just kinda surreal to see people I have known as underage forever as just sitting around having a drink. Kinda cool !
Well, that's just a quick update about life. Hope it satiated everyone's thirst to know more about what's going on!

Also, here's a random song that I just heard, it makes me think of the WONDER YEARS
We've Got Tonight
I know it’s late, I know you’re weary
I know your plans don’t include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
Longing for shelter from all that we see
Why should we worry, no one will care girl
Look at the stars so far away
We’ve got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
We’ve got tonight babe
Why don’ t we stay?
Deep in my soul, I’ve been so lonely
All of my hopes, fading away
I’ve longed for love, like everyone else does
I know I’ll keep searching, after today
So there it is girl, I’ve got it all now
And here we are babe, what do you say?
We’ve got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
We’ve got tonight babe
Why don’t we stay?
I know it’s late, I know you’re weary
I know your plans don’t include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
Both of us lonely
We’ve got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
Let’s make it last, let’s find a way
Turn off the light, come take my hand now
We’ve got tonight babe
Why don’t we stay?
We’ve got tonight babe
Why don’t we stay?
Since Monday, I've been attending Calc 3 classes from 8:00-9:50am. Arg, no one should ever have to be awake that early in the summer. But today was funny, I was wide awake, coherent and chipper. If you know me, you know that is NOT my morning self. I was taken aback by this. (side bar- my puppy is licking the bottom of my foot and it tickles... Ok he's interested in a bug now!)
The Blue Angels flew today. They are so amazing. The way they fly so close together and that booming supersonic roar that just rattles right through you. Amazing. All you can do is stare. Then on top of that they do twists and such. It has been wonderful to grow up near the Academy because they fly, without fail, every year and it's tradition to skip school to go watch them. Sometimes you can even get it excused. I remember senior year, a bunch of us were in Mr. Leith's class, bc we hadn't come up with viable excuses to leave school to see the Blue Angels. Well, we asked him if we could go outside and watch (they flew right over school so class was basically pointless) and he said no. Normally, I'm very obedient and such to authority figures, but that day, like a week before the end of high school, sitting listening to them fly over... I walked out. And as I would have expected, a few followed (suprisingly the well-behaved ones!!) and eventually Mr. Leith himself joined us. See, the moral of the story is that EVERYONE SHOULD SKIP WHATEVER THEY ARE DOING TO SEE THE BLUE ANGELS!

Just got in from my first trip to Rita's this year! Dad and I ventured out and he got lime (to make his tongue green) and I got blueberry (bc it has lil blueberries in it and it makes your tongue really blue)! It was such fun. We just sat in the car and listened to Kenny Chesney! What a great end to an amazingly lazy day!!!
I found a bookmark today that would have been so great to have during the fall 2003 school year, but finding it now, it makes me smile and be thankful for God preserving me through that time. It goes as follows:
It's really a great feeling to have stayed at a college for more than a semester, and not only be content with the school and my life, but to love it and long to get it started back up. Don't get me wrong, the days of floating on a floaty and sleeping in Katie's pool are priceless gifts each and every time, but this year has been such a huge accomplishment!
Also, people say "I feel so close/distant from God lately" and I have to say I'm in a funk (no Katie... I didn't say the dreaded word that we must never say). Maybe starting class at 8am will help get back into the routine. Waking up early and having time for devos was great, but with my lack of any kind of regimented schedule, you'd think I'd have more time for devos, but like the saying goes "idle hands do the devils work" and not that I've been behaving badly, but I haven't been praying or studying like I should. It'd be great to be able to say that God just isn't there, or that He's just distant now, but that'd be falling into a trap that the devil has set up. That Lucifer, he's a sneaky one, but we still all fall for his dastardly little tricks don't we? Rather, the blame must lay fully upon my shoulders. Christ is ever-present and it is not He who separates Himself. Why does He keep taking me back after everything? Arrogant, selfish, demanding, rude, callous, lustful, uncaring... And those characteristics could describe me on a good day. But like Mr. Peck said today, we all need to rebooted into the Spirit-OS (Operating System). Jesus continually wants us to be booted up with Him at the center. So, that is the goal of the week: pack my bags and get back on track, and have the Spirit-OS!

DON'T QUIT
Don't quit when the tide is lowest,
For it's just about to turn
Don't quit over doubts and questions,
For there's something you may learn.
Don't quit when the night is darkest
For it's just a while til dawn.
Don't quit when you've run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.
Don't quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh;
Don't quit when you're not a failure
Until you fail to try ~Jim Wolf

So, today I made a slight blunder. Hopefully not cataclysmic, but definitely not the best move. Apparently, one part of a family was not supposed to know another family member was in the hospital. So, when I saw that family that wasnt supposed to know, and they mentioned that the other family had missed the bday party that day, I told them where they were. Well, apparently, that was not supposed to happen! Arg, why cant people tell me when things are supposed to be kept on the downlow? bc then I can do that! arg, now I feel really bad! So, I'm sorry!
On another note... Work officially starts tomorrow. The lazy summer must be put aside for a few weeks. Time to buckle down and work and go to class. JOY!! Also, Tonight I successfully got Katie hooked to DDR! YES!!!!!!!!! Is anyone from SC planning to come visit up here? Bc that would be so tight! Nan, I cant believe youre going to Taiwan soon. Hopefully God will use you there, but that He will work in your mightly. Though you are going to minister... you are also being ministered to. That will be an amazing time to grow! I'm so excited for you.

So I tried to write about my time in SC w/Jen and such but it aparently didnt publish. *Sigh* Oh well, if you wana hear funny stories about my bathing suit breaking or my top coming partially off on Folly... just ask. Also, funny stuff about Nan and the DARK SIDE tour and chillin w/Leigh Ann!
Today was so great! I hung out w/Katie. It's been a really long (like a year) since we just got to chill together and you know what, it was exactly the same! It was so great because when everything else is changing, that stayed constant. Even after a year of totally separate lives, we just talked and chilled like normal. I love you Katie... even though you are better at Super NES than me! :) Well, cya tomorrow chica!

ok, forgot to add. So I used to like Hanson (ok, I admit it, I LIKE HANSON!) and there new song is amazing. So for your reading pleasure here is PENNY AND ME by Hanson:
Cigars in the summertime
Under the sky by the light I can feel her read my mind
I can see it in her eyes
Under the moon as it plays like music every line
There's a rug with a bleeding dye
Under the fan in the room where the passion's burning high
By the chair with the leopard skin under the light
It's always Penny and me tonight
On the plane step with both my feet
Riding in seat number three on a flight to NYC
Got my bean in a coffee cup next to my seat
Catch the view and another good book to read
Sitting at home over the friendly skies missing her eyes
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up push the pedal to the ground
Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny and me tonight
Staring at a million city lights
But still Penny and I are all alone beneath the sky
Feel the wind brushing slowly by
If I could soar I would try, to take these wings and fly
Away to where the leaves turn red
But no matter where I am instead
Singing along to feeling alright
Or making it by under pink moonlight
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up push the pedal to the ground
Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny likes to get away
And drown her pain, in lemonade
Penny dreams of rainy days
And nights up late, by the fireplace
And aimless conversations about the better days
Singing along to feeling alright
Making it by under pink moonlight
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up push the pedal to the ground
Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny and me tonight

It's always Penny and me tonight
Staring at a million city lights
But still Penny and I are all alone beneath the sky
Feel the wind brushing slowly by
If I could soar I would try, to take these wings and fly
Away to where the leaves turn red
But no matter where I am instead
Singing along to feeling alright
Or making it by under pink moonlight
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up push the pedal to the ground
Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny likes to get away
And drown her pain, in lemonade
Penny dreams of rainy days
And nights up late, by the fireplace
And aimless conversations about the better days
Singing along to feeling alright
Making it by under pink moonlight
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up push the pedal to the ground
Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes pretend to fly
It's always Penny and me tonight
Penny and me tonight
Penny and me tonight
Penny and me tonight
It's always Penny and me tonight

So, Today has been pretty productive so far. Last night, I babysat Jonas (YEAH), then rushed home to watch friends w/Leigh Ann and Susan, yeah for Ross and Rachel ending up together!! So after that we went to Nan's and watched Top Gun! You can never go wrong with navy boys and tom cruise! HECK YA! We were there til around 1:30 or 2, then we came back. Today, I woke up, did all my laundry and cleaned... No more dust! Then I went to Harris Teeter and got SHREK fruit snacks, they are so yummy! Definitely a fan! Rachel and I went into Millenium and played heart and soul... It was fun! Well, now I'm just gonna relax and wait for jen! yeah!

HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY GUMPY! It was awesome to talk to my grandfather today, for his bday. Its funny how my (and prolly everyone's) grandparents love to tell stories of when I was young, and they tell the same stories everytime, but its cute. I love him so much. He used to be my grandfather who could do anything and everything. The man who would sit and play gin rummy or monopoly junior with me, or go golfing and to "where summer never ends" for hours on end. To me, he'll always be the grandfather who I just wanted to be around all the time!
Today was fun again! haha. Went to bojangles for the first time. Haha I was looking for breakfast on the menu and Leigh Ann was like "if it has the word biscuit in it, its breakfast.... Have you ever had a biscuit?" And to that all I could do was laugh. So she said "well you are from up north, I dono, do they eat biscuits there?" YES, just because I'm from up there... Doesn't mean I don't eat biscuits haha. That was great. Then we went to Nan's church. Ashley River was really nice, I liked it a lot actually. That's for another great day in Charleston!
On a different note. Something I haven't discussed in a while. The more pensive side is emerging. Maybe its because I don't want to study, or maybe its just because its finally time to tell the truth. But this is my last time writing/thinking about this, because once it's out... I'm done with it, and sadly, I'm done with all the drama caused by this. Our friendship last semester was awesome, fun and honest... Or was it? You dropped me so easily this semester and then seemed angry when I didn't fall apart without you. I cant, nor will I be sorry for that! I tried so hard in the beginning to keep you involved... And you made it clear you didn't want a part of me anymore. Its not my job to make you happy, and sorry that you hate it here so much. It really is a shame that you feel like I was a waste of your time. That you took a chance letting me know you, and that you feel it was for nothing. And if this is the end... Maybe its the end. But I just want to let you know that it wasn't nothing to me, being your friend, even if it was only for a brief moment was not a waste to me. But sometimes, you have to move on and grow up. So that's what this is... Me moving on and growing up!

I've decided... I LOVE MY FRIENDS! These people that I have met here in Charleston just make me laugh and smile so much. Last semester, this is all I wanted. God has truly blessed me this semester and I need to remember to Thank Him so much for this! It really is such an answer to prayer. This place was somewhere that I dreaded. Somewhere that was devoid of relationships and depressing. However, this semester has been such a 180! Life has improved exponentially. BCM has connected me to students who love the Lord and just make me want to seek Him more.
It has been really fun and rewarding to get to minister through sports such as basketball, softball and floor hockey! I hope the Lord continues to provide ways for us to spread His gospel to those who would not normally come and sit at BCM or anything else like it. Praise to the Father for connecting me with those who have a love and passion for the Lord and for Sports, and a desire to combine the two!
So, I really want to personally thank each and everyone of you... Nan, KJ, Ashley, Rachel, Kristi Ford, Leigh Ann, and %n! Thank you so much. Much love to everyone else who has impacted me this semester.
Thank you for helping me come out of my shell, for letting my true self show, for letting me become apart of your lives. Though I try to be funny, and sure it doesn't work all the time :) , I want you to know that under that is a girl... woman (?!?)... who cares deeply about you all, and will miss you incredibly over the summer. My prayer is that the Lord continues to strengthen our relationships over the summer and during the years to come. Let this summer be one in which we just cannot help but preach the Truth to everyone around us! Matthew 11:1 says "After Jesus had finished instructing his 12 disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee (Greek: In their towns)." We have finished our instruction from both BCM/Church/C of C for the year, and now its time... time to go to our towns, where ever we are from, and preach! So, in conclusion to my rambling I will leave with this simple message from John. John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

YESTERDAY WAS THE LAST DAY OF CLASSES THIS SEMESTER... YEAH!!
So last night could have been the most random day ever. So, I finally went bowling... After the last time where bowling ended up as an evening at chuckie cheese! So, it was Isaac and I, Andy (Isaac's roommate) and Jen, Charlie (the guys Pi kappa big brother) and Ashley, then we met Nan there. Only everyone piled into my car because they were so wasted. So Andy was in the trunk and the others, except for jen, were loudly singing odd songs and poking eachother. Haha, then we got to the bowling alley after a very entertaining hour at wendy's!!! It was guys verses girls. So, Charlie decided it would be fun to throw the ball from really far back, and he got strikes that way. Not fair. The only strike I got was when we bowled in a line. I used my left hand, couldn't see bc Isaac's hat is too big, he was holding my right hand and nan's right hand. haha it was so funny. Then Isaac started hugging everyone, and he wouldn't let me go, and saying he loved me. Hmm. Drunken people are sure interesting.
So, when I got back, I went to Pluto Rocks with KJ, Jenn, Leigh Ann, and Alli. That band was amazing at cover songs. They played an amazingly large variety of music. I wana go back.
Well, exams start soon, but at least everything will be done by Tuesday and then Jen will be coming down. YEAH GOOD TIMES!!!!!

We all knew it was ensuing quickly, but I still don't quite understand it. Mrs. Peck collapsed on Friday and is now asleep with Jesus. That is an odd saying for someone who loved Jesus on this earth. Because we tell little kids that the dead are just sleeping, but as we grow and study the scriptures more, we learn that they are not asleep, but rather they are praising the Father forever. Everything that hurt her in this life, the pain she had to endure is relinquished and her body is made perfect in Christ. Mrs. Peck, though not my official grandmother, was much more than just Jen's grandmother to me. She was family, and not just family that I had to love because they were related, but family that I loved unconditionally and simply.
If you know me at all, you know I'm not the most touchy-feely girl in the world. I'm a big proponent of the personal bubble and always have been. But Mrs. Peck invaded and crushed my bubble over and over again, and in the best possible way. Since my junior year in high school, she took it upon herself to teach me to be a good hugger. She would hunt me down at each service and hug me, whether I stood there uncomfortably, or started to hug w/the 1-arm quick slap on the back hug. Eventually, I came around and searched her out, and hugged her: a real, and not-forced hug. I hugged her because she first hugged me... Whoa, She was showing me Christ even through something as simple as a hug. "We love because He first loved me" 1 John 4:19 (thanks for finding that Nan)!
So, I guess all I can do is miss this wonderful lady, and praise the Lord for the impact she had on my life. I can only hope to be as influential for the Kingdom of Christ as she was throughout her lifetime. Praise God for this women of the Lord.

Yesterday was so fun! Around 6, Isaac, Leigh-Ann (and her friend Suzzie), Nan and Wade attempted to go bowling, but it didn't happen bc no lanes were open, so we went to Chuckie Cheese WHERE A KID CAN BE A KID instead. Haha it was so fun. I beat Isaac at race cars, but only once... Then Nan and I danced w/Chuckie! So after that we came back, around 9 I guess. So, then I decided to actually go to Isaac's Pi Kappa Phi party. So, luckily, KJ and Leigh-Ann came! Yeah for awesome back up... my heros! But it was funny to watch everything that goes on there. We drank Dr Thunder and played cards while everyone else was playing beer bong, which I might add could possibly be the dumbest game ever! What's the point of throwing that ball into a cup? haha. Oh well, it was fun and amusing.
But here's the song I've been listening to lately, its called THE REASON by HOOBASTANK:
"The Reason"
I'm not a perfect person, There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know
CHORUS
I've found a reason for me to change who I used to be
A reason to start over new and the reason is you
I'm sorry that I hurt you, It's something I must live with everyday
& all the pain I put you through I wish that I could take it all away
& be the 1 who catches all your tears thats why i need you to hear
CHORUS
I'm not a perfect person I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go That I just want you to know
CHORUS
I've found a reason to show a side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do and the reason is you

So, I just wrote all about that weekend w/Kristi and John and the comp lost the internet, and also the thing I was writing. So, basically we sat on some swings, napped, went to Dinner and kristi got crazy tired and was acting drunk!
Last weekend, I went home for Easter, which was nice. Can anyone believe that we have 2 weeks of classes left? what a fast year.
Well, I've just been busy lately with classes, homework, work, and playing softball. Also Nan got me to play floor hockey. It was fun, but prolly not something you should do with a cold haha. There were a lotta Pi Kappa Phi boys there, which was cool since I've been hanging out w/some of them lately. Whoa this year went fast...

There were a lotta Pi Kappa Phi boys there, which was cool since I've been hanging out w/some of them lately. Whoa this year went fast...

This was the craziest weekend ever. Friday night, I went to the senior semiformal dance with Brian. Actually, it was really nice. Though it was like 40 degrees out and I had a sleeveless dress and sandals on and shivered, the ambiance was amazing. It was out on the cistern, and there were candles in all the right spots making it light enough, yet kinda romantically dark out. The dinner was amazing. Chicken, asparagus, salad, pasta... Oh oh oh and coffee! Luckily, after I was convulsively shaking from the cold Brian gave me his jacket. Afterward, we went and got some more coffee at Port City Java and walked around Marion Square even though it was like BRRR out. It was a suprisingly good time!
Friday/Saturday:
So John Parks and Kristi Kohl came down. Who felt the love? That's right, I did. They drove all night, and arrived in Charleston at like 5:30am. Whoa. So we napped for a bit, and then Kristi and I somehow ended up in the midst of the Cooper River Bridge Run, and got yelled at for not being official racers and in the way! Oops! :) So, we came back, and John was so cute sleeping we couldn't wake him. So we went to the Battery and waterfront park until he woke up. Then we all went to Folly Beach, brr it was cold. But it was amusing to watch Kristi kick the dead starfish, poor lil sucker! But a good word of advice: when there's a sign for FREE BOILED PEANUTS... STEER CLEAR! BLECK BLECK BLECK! What the heck was that trash? Not good. However, lunch at Sonic more than made up for it. Well must sleep, cant focus... But will write more about the good times later!

So I must confess that I have not been using this journal for it's intended purpose. I started it to write about how God was impacting my life... And the majority of the entries lately haven't been close to that. Maybe that, in a way, depicts the journey my life has taken as of late. South Carolina is becoming more and more fun. There are a plethora of friends to hang out with, homework to keep me busy forever, and then a job on top of that. So, in a way that's great, life hasn't been spiraling out of control like a plane in a deep unrecoverable spin, which is quite nice. However, it also has caused me to become complacent. That old lie, "I can take care of myself" has been whispering itself continually into my ear and I have been listening. But the funny thing is lies are always wrong, even if it does seem like "I can take care of myself." Jesus is the Sustainer. He is the only reason that anything is ok. On the radio "I've always loved you" by Third Day came on. The lyrics really struck me...
"Don't you know I've always loved you, Even before there was time. Though you turn away I'll tell you still. Don't you know I've always loved you and I always will. Greater love has not a man than the one who gives his life to prove that he would do anything and that's what I'm going to do for you" God loves me even when I turn. He stays the steady constant, while my life ebbs and flows like the waves. I've always seen myself as a very solid person, one who wouldn't waver and though outwardly I can appear steadfast, inwardly its all brokendown. But, to use more Third Day lyrics: "Set this place (my heart) on fire, Send you spirit, Savior. Rescue from the mire, Show Your servant favor. Yesterday was the day that I was alone. Now I'm in the presence of Almighty God and yes our God, He is a consuming fire!!! And the flames burn down deep in my soul. Yes our God He is a consuming fire He reaches inside and He melts down this cold heart of stone." That is my prayer. Dear Father, reach into my heart and change it from stone into one on fire for you, Lord. Let Your presence be seen and known to and through me. Take my supercilious mind and make it all about You, because in Truth it is all about You, Jesus."
